The Film Poster Making Challenge is a unique opportunity to create innovative and visually compelling reimagined film posters to celebrate and promote the rich film poster heritage of India. As part of the World Audio-Visual Entertainment Summit’s (WAVES’) ‘Create in India Challenge Season 1’, this competition seeks to identify and reward outstanding artistic talent in digital and hand painted poster creation and showcase their creativity

Posters

Screening

  • Registration begins on October 1st and will remain open until March 31st 2025. Register here and submit your artwork
  • Choose one film from the 20 film titles available [here]
  • Submission of Artwork : Upload your artwork at 300 DPI in CMYK as a JPEG/PNG file. The poster should be in a vertical orientation:
    • Standard Size: 24 x 36 inches (aspect ratio 2:3)
    • Alternate Size: 18 x 24 inches (aspect ratio 3:4)
    • Maximum File Size: 10 MB
    • Kindly name the artwork with the following file naming structure: artistname_filmname_year_waves2024.jpeg
  • Registration Fee: There is no registration fee for participation.
  • Submission Deadline: All artworks must be submitted by the specified deadline mentioned in the timeline

Finale

  • The top 20 selected digital artworks will be exhibited at the WAVES Summit.
  • The top 3 artworks from the 20 displayed in the exhibition will be felicitated with awards.

AWARDS

  • First Prize - INR 50,000 + Certificate
  • Second Prize - INR 30,000 + Certificate
  • Third Prize - INR 10,000 + Certificate
  • Remaining Shortlisted Candidate - Digital Certificate of Appreciation

Important deadlines:

  • Poster design entries open: October 1st – March 31st 2025
  • Final artwork must be submitted by: March 31st 2025
  • Winner announcement: 10th April, 2025
  • Selected artist’s exhibition and award ceremony: May, 2025

Hand Painted
Posters

Screening

  • selected art institutions will be hosting a hand-painted film poster-making competition.
  • The theme for the posters will be based on 20 film titles, which can be found [here]
  • Each college will select three candidates from their internal competition to represent them in the semi-finale.
  • This competition is not open to individuals.
  • Institutions that want to be a part of the competition may email us at imagenationstreetart@gmail.com and mark nfaifilmcircle@nfdcindia in cc.

Finale

  • Upto 25 selected artists will compete in a live event, based on juried selection from all the submissions received.
  • They will create hand-painted posters within a specified time frame at the WAVES Summit.
  • The Top three artworks will be felicitated with awards.

Guidelines for Finale

  • The film titles options for the live handmade poster-making competition will be announced 10 days before the live event.
  • Participants and their respective art institutions are responsible for bringing all necessary materials for the competition.
  • The organizers will communicate travel details to the participants at a later stage.
  • Specifications for the live painting competition:
    • Materials: Participants must bring their own materials. The medium should be suitable paper for handmade poster design.
    • Poster Size: 24 x 36 inches (vertical)
