Gargi comes from a typical middle class family which has more love to give than money. Dipankar hails from a well-to-do family which has more than its share of pride and prejudice. Despite the differences in their background, Dipankar and Gargi get married. Gargi bears the slurs of Dipankar's family till she can bear no more, then she takes her son and sets up a separate house. Dipankar joins her but is unable to adjust to the new life, which is difficult and impecunious. He cannot set up a business on his own and so takes his anger out on Gargi. They begin to drift apart till Gargi decides to leave Dipankar and live on her own. That is her final choice.
