In 1851, a couple, Raavi and Prasad, moved to London and although not glad to leave India, they tried to adapt to life in London. Though Prasad adjusted comparatively fast, his wife Raavi found it very difficult. Once, while going through old belongings lying in their newly rented apartment, she came across a trunk full of unopened letters. The letters were addressed to a person named Visvanath by a girl called Bayo from Konkan, India. Raavi began reading the letters and she was touched by the misery and fate of the young girl Bayo. This inspired Raavi to write a book on her.
