In 1944, the life of a Brahmin widow was different and difficult. This is a story of three such widows in the family of the head of a Satra of Damodardev's sect. Durga, the younger sister of the Satradhikar has been brought back to the house by her nephew. The widow of the younger brother of the Satradhikar is trying to take care of her own land and tenants through a trusted servant. Durga accepts all the hardships of a widow's life, hoping that some day she would go to Kashi to perform the final rites of her dead husband. For that purpose, she is even prepared to sell the last piece of jewellery that she has. But fate has something else in store for her. In a single stroke of misfortune, Durga loses all hopes of even going to Kashi.
