WHAT IS “NATIONAL FILM CIRCLE” ?

The National Film Development Corporation Limited (NFDC) is a Government of India Enterprise set up with the objective of fostering excellence in Indian Cinema. Its core activity is Productions and Promotion of Socially Relevant Films. It has produced films depicting a thought provoking story about social ills, such as illiteracy, superstition, sati, child marriage, terrorism, child labors, women’s empowerment, bonded labour and films on national leaders and hilarious comedy to cater to the masses. It provides film enthusiasts in Mumbai, Chandigarh and Goa an opportunity to see good meaningful World-Class Films throughout the year through “NATIONAL FILM CIRCLE”.

For the past twenty-five years, National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) has produced/co-produced more than 200 films in 15 languages, including English. Amongst these all several internationally acclaimed films like Gandhi, The Making of Mahatma, Mirch Masala, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, and Salaam Bombay etc.

NFC has been functioning with an aim to organize the screenings of meaningful and artistic films of the world renowned Directors, Internationally acclaimed/ National Award winning films in Hindi, English and Regional languages (with Sub-title).

The films shown under the programme of NATIONAL FILM CIRCLE are entertaining and educative to all and especially younger generation to inculcates cultural values.

As this is purely a non-commercial activity to promote Good Cinema, we charge only a very Nominal Membership Fees i.e. Rs.500 for Students, Rs.1,000 for Individuals & Rs.1,500 for Couple per annum by joining the NFC.

The Screenings of these gems are held on every SATURDAY and SUNDAY Prime time at 06.00 P.M. at the NFDC Preview Theatre, Basement of Nehru Planetarium, Nehru Centre, Dr. Annie Besant Road, Worli, Mumbai 400018.

Points on the benefits by joining NFC :-

• You will be seeing World Class Films on every SATURDAY and SUNDAY at 06:00 p.m. in prime time.

• Considering 02 films in a week, you have an opportunity to watch 08 films in a month, thus totaling to 96 films in a year with just annual subscription of Rs.1,000

• Thus on average calculation you are paying just Rs.10 per film, where as you will be paying Rs.100-150 in a theatre/multiplex.

• You will also have the benefit of seeing all award winning films such as Hindi, all other regional languages and other foreign languages.

• All these films you can be seen only in NATIONAL FILM CIRCLE.

• While joining you have to pay Rs.1,000 initially with two passport size photo along with Membership Form.

• You can invite your friends also to join in seeing film by paying only Rs.50 for a particular show.

• The seating capacity in NFDC Preview Theatre is 125 approximately.

• We need TWO photographs (ONE passport size paste on Membership Form and SECOND in thumb size for NFC-Identity Card)

Formation Of “National Film Circle” In Chennai, Chandigarh & Goa.

CHENNAI

NFDC is having its Regional Office at Bhavani Mansion No.3, Fourth Street, Nungambakkam High Road, Chennai 600034 (Tel : 044-8277137/8233515) and formed “NATIONAL FILM CIRCLE” in Chennai since January 2007.

CHANDIGARH

M/s. Society for Tourism and Entertainment Promotion (STEPS), having its office at UT Secretariat, Ground Floor, Sector-9, Chandigarh had approached NFDC for joint promotion for formation of “NATIONAL FILM CIRCLE” at Chandigarh Chapter with effect from February 17, 2007. They will screen our films at CSIO and/or IMTECH Auditorium.

GOA

M/s. Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), having its office at Old GMC Heritage Precinct, D.B. Marg, Champal, Panaji, Goa 403001 had also approached NFDC for joint promotion for formation of “NATIONAL FILM CIRCLE” at Goa Chapter (this is under consideration).
